Spring is not too far away

The weather continues to be unseasonably cold. However Spring will soon be on us.  A few photos taken in previous years as a reminder of what is to come.

London - Speed

Photos recently in London trying to capture speed

A lucky shot, with the taxi crossing in front of my subject

London Underground - Speed abstract

A photograph taken recently on the moving pavement at Waterloo underground station.

I had been trying to create an impression of speed by using the zoom on a slow shutter speed.  Apart from cropping and adding a little contract, no photoshop has been used.  Whether it gives the impression of speed, I don't know, but I was pleased with the abstract feel of the end result.

London - Lloyds Building

Photos of this iconic building taken last year.

You would be forgiven to think that this photo is monochrome, but the two yellow lights give it away as being Full colour...

... I waited some time to get the lifts adjacent to each other....

Another colour photo.

Ashridge - Mid-January Hoar Frost and Light Snow

Now back after a month without a working PC.  Problems hopefully sorted out.

A foggy morning leaving a heavy hoar frost on the trees in Ashridge on top of the previous day's light snowfall.  Photos with my little pocket camera.

The fog now a mist with light  starting to break through...

....waiting for the sun

The dog enjoying a rest...

....and now the sun is at last shining on the foreground.

The beautiful Hoar Frost.

Scotland - Abandoned and Derelict Boats

The harbour at Old Dornie, just north of Achiltibue.

A small number of boats, possibly old fishing boats were pulled out of the water and were decaying.

I know next to nothing about boats, but I suspect that this upturned hull needs a little more than a few replacement strips of timber before it is seaworthy again.

Possibly not quite gone?

Scotland - Grey Lag Geese & Sunset

These Grey Lag Geese were found down a single track road overlooking Fangamore Bay to the north of Tarbet.  What a  great setting and such change from those more commonly found in our parks and fed by the public.

A dramatic sunset later that evening at Ardmair

Scotland - Lobster Pots Birdlife

Again from June trip to the NW of Scotland

The quay at Tarbet where you catch the boat to the bird island of Handa.
Lobster pots where stacked in the car park by the quayside.  I was amused by a busy and noisy family of House Sparrows which were perching on and in the pots (safe from predators?).

The abstract shapes and lines of the stacked pots.

A female or juvenile Linnet (I think) taking advantage of a pot as a perch
