Scotland - Abandoned and Derelict Boats

The harbour at Old Dornie, just north of Achiltibue.

A small number of boats, possibly old fishing boats were pulled out of the water and were decaying.

I know next to nothing about boats, but I suspect that this upturned hull needs a little more than a few replacement strips of timber before it is seaworthy again.

Possibly not quite gone?

London - Borough Market and nearby

Photos from March this year.  The area around Borough Market near Southwark Cathedral

An Oyster Bar, opposite the market

Scotland - Grey Lag Geese & Sunset

These Grey Lag Geese were found down a single track road overlooking Fangamore Bay to the north of Tarbet.  What a  great setting and such change from those more commonly found in our parks and fed by the public.

A dramatic sunset later that evening at Ardmair

Scotland - Lobster Pots Birdlife

Again from June trip to the NW of Scotland

The quay at Tarbet where you catch the boat to the bird island of Handa.
Lobster pots where stacked in the car park by the quayside.  I was amused by a busy and noisy family of House Sparrows which were perching on and in the pots (safe from predators?).

The abstract shapes and lines of the stacked pots.

A female or juvenile Linnet (I think) taking advantage of a pot as a perch

Scotland - Memories of June

It is November and I am still going through the photos taken in Scotland in June. Various photos taken towards the end of my break.

Hebredean Sheep on the road in Assynt with Suilven in the background.

A Fritillary resting on the heather - I am afraid I can't tell whether this is the Small Pearl Bordered variety, or the rarer Pearl Bordered species

A view of Ardmair

The vivid blue of a very small flower in amongst the heather

Autumn Spider, water droplets and a Fly

A spider on a fading rose in my small Bedfordshire garden at the end of October

There had been rain overnight and the suns rays were caught by the water droplets on this leaf.

Then amongst the water droplets, I spotted a fly waiting for the sun to warm it up

London - Sky Umbrellas in Autumn

A selection of photographs of a yard between Stoney Street and Park Street behind Borough Market.

Colourful Umbrellas...

......reflected in a puddle with autumn Plane Tree leaves.

A visitor admires the spectacle....

....missing the almost abstract reflections

...but enjoying the umbrellas above.

Scotland - Beautiful Clashnessie Bay Pt 2

More views of the beach in June

Rockpool, sea and sky

Sea Snails brushing aside the thin coating of sand on a rock in a pool, leaving a trail of their trips.

The intricate pattern of ripples of a shallow stream crossing the sand frozen by the camera
